Ugh, this place is dead too? I've been rereading CoTRK and have been looking for a trace of fandom, but the few forums that I have come across have been dead. I haven't been in LJ in forever, but it's worth it to try and find a trace of fandom!
If anyone cares, I'm nightpwnsj00 from fanfiction.net, and I've posted in the CoTRK/CB forum thing over there, but oh god so much dead. I've joined the facebook group, and you guessed it! Dead. But not as much. I'm also on the "Official Site", but it seems like that place is filled with 12-year olds. Fail. Oh, and I haven't been approved there yet - I'm itching to bitch to them that no, Johnny Depp would not be a decent Paton in the movie that really should exist by now. Ahem.
I do realize that I should be rereading my overdue library books (Jules Verne ftw), but, if you haven't guessed already, I am a ridiculous Paton fangirl, and it's so much fun rereading the 20% of each CB book that he is in. Yes, that does take ~25 minutes due to the double spaced text and convenient bursts of him being MIA - either by injury or "I'M CONVENIENTLY OFF SCREEN DOING RESEARCH.", but he is just that awesome. Pardon the ranting. I've been trying to satisfy my craving for fanart/fiction/etc., but the lack of such (especially Paton-centric!) is appalling. If anyone wishes to chat or whatnot (ajhdflk;hjdfhjdfkhjal Paton fans wanted), that would be amazing. I really don't care if it's via email/LJ/ff.net/etc.
Last thing. Perhaps we could make a CoTRK/CB forum of some sort or bring everyone over to one forum/comm/group? This fandom is lacking in too much, and to be able to theorize and shit with intelligent beings would be great.
Hello! Long term Charlie Bone fan ever since I borrowed it off my sister's bookcase a few years ago. Anyway, I bring four fics for your reading pleasure. I hope you enjoy.A Step in Time: GabrielOlivia; He's a concert pianist without work and she's a top film actress and they haven't seen each other in five years.Chinese Whispers: He was gone so sudden; the others contemplate his loss. For none can move on.Letters: This was the way it always was. A young boy writes letters to a girl who no longer exists. A piano teacher reaches for memories long forgotten. And things begin to change in a way neither of them can imagine.Painted Lunacy: He was strong, immense and powerful, and she was just an ordinary girl, but neither of them could contain what they felt for each other. 50 sentences, LaurenLysander.
Okay, so I've pretty much been hooked into the Charlie Bone series ever since I first picked up a copy of "Midnight with Charlie Bone" a couple years back, and my sister's basically been buying me all the new ones as presents since then. I have yet to read the seventh one, but I just reread the third one last week. I always thought the whole idea of endowed people was kinda cool, you know? Not as completely unrealistic as Harry Potter, and definitely not as impossible as Twilight. It was always a cool idea, I thought, and my favorite powers would probably have to be Tancred's controlling of the weather and Lysander's ancestors. Although talking to animals would be pretty cool (I think Billy deserves a little more credit most of the time; with a little encouragement, there's no doubt he could be as amazing as Charlie Bone and whatnot). I also love the Onimouses and their Pets' Cafe (totally cool idea, if you ask me. Of course, it could get a little smelly in there). And then, I think Benjamin's pretty cool, although Runner Bean is definitely a favorite. Although I'm not into the whole bad-boy, take-over-the-world thing, I do find I have a soft spot for Manfred. And I definitely think Asa is not all that bad, as shown in, what was it, the sixth and seventh books?
Anyways, so I really don't know if that's what I was supposed to post on here or whatnot, but I figured if this is about the Children of the Red King, I might as well put what I think up here. I just recently joined livejournal, so I have no idea what I'm really supposed to do with all this community stuff, but whatever. I'll just do what I think I should be doing. So, um, anyways, that's about it! :D

Er. *shuffles feet around* Looks like I'm the first person to post here in 35 weeks, but I recently got sucked into the Charlie Bone series and have been a little disappointed that the fan community is pretty much non-existent. D: Charlie Bone's right up there with Harry Potter, in my opinion, yet I haven't been able to find a single person who knows what Charlie Bone is! It's depressing.
Anyways, introduction, in case anyone's reading:
I'm Kirsten, otherwise known as une_insomniaque
, 18 years old, going to college in Boston. I first picked up Charlie Bone a few years ago and loved it, but I thought that the fifth book was the last one, what with the climatic event that was alluded to all throughout the first few books (hey, I doubt any of you need the spoiler warning, but I wanted to be deliberately vague in case someone hasn't read the fifth book yet), picked it up again three days ago, and realized that there were more books. I reread the entire series, then dashed out to Barnes and Noble last night to get numbers 6 and 7. I stayed up til three in the morning finishing the fifth book (which was practically new to me too -- for some reason, I didn't remember anything
about it!) and got partway through the sixth one as well. Then I woke up at 9:30 this morning, dug into my books again, and read for the better part of the day. I've never been so engrossed in a series since Harry Potter. :D Anyways, I'm immensely excited for the eighth and final book -- why did she have to leave us with such a cliffhanger?! *flails*
Well, I doubt I'll get much of a response here since it appears pretty deserted, but I just thought I'd throw myself out there in case there are any other Charlie Bone fans lurking out there. So, hello! :)
Hm. It looks like it's been pretty empty around here of late, but what the heck?
If anyone goes on sites like Fanfiction.net, you may know me as Lonnagriffin or Amethyst Asheryn. The Children of the Red King books are awesome, IMO, though what really keeps me going is the characters.
I really like Fidelio Gunn for his personality, and I've been really disappointed with the way his role in the books has decreased as the series progressed. (Anyone read Shadows of Badlock? Notice how much of a background role he takes? If not, go back and read the first book and you'll see what I mean.)
I also like Tancred for his impetuosity and, if I can be so fangirlish, for his endowment. (Weather mongers are kind of common in fantasy, but still ...)
Lysander's another favorite - I'd be set for life if I had such a calm nature! ;) and last, Asa's character is so interesting I can't help but like him. I loved The Wilderness Wolf for its delving into his character and past and whatnot.
Oh, and Billy Raven. I used to think he was a whiney idiot, but now I don't. I feel kind of sorry for the poor guy, and also, he's fun to write about. And as another poster said, yes, he needs a hug. ;)
I'm a fanfiction writer as well, and, among other fandoms, I write for Charlie Bone, of course. ;)
I hope this post isn't in vain!
Wow! Hiya guys, I'm your mod, Allison. I'll tell you something. When I created this group a couple years ago, I didn't think there would be any interest. I know, I know, I was definitely wrong. Hey there Charlie Bone fans! ::waves::
Anyway, I've returned to the community to spiff it up a bit. We have a brand new layout to enjoy! Also, there's some suggestions for an intro post in the community user info, if you want to introduce yourself.
I am open to any suggestions regarding the community, and I hope you'll all forgive me for neglecting it for so long! Let's get some activity going, yeah?
New here and of course a huge Charlie Bone fan. I love most of the characters so that's why I like reading it.
Top characters are: Gabriel - because one I love his name and 2 I just think he's cute. Manfred - I think he's rather sexy lol. Tancred - just really cool and Emma and Olivia cause their great.
Actually I like nearly all of them, with a few exceptions.
Hope more people start posting again on here!
Hey I'm new here but I've read all the books so, yea...
Anyway I just finished the latest book and...Was anyone else REALLY disappointed?? I don't know but -- in all teh othe rbooks you get sucked into the world Nimmo creates, but in this one it was kinda detached. And my favourite parts of the other books was always when Charlie was exploring his endowment and his magical roots. He didn't do much this time and I don't think that Nimmo explored each theme/element thoroughly enough. Meh, it was kinda crap...AND I PAID £11 FOR THE BLOODY THING!! *huffs*
I hope she does better in the next one cause I love the series *cries*
Hey yall. It's LSS from Charlie Bone Online. Man, I cannot BELIEVE there's an LJ Charlie Bone community, but I knew that if there was one, Ehren would be in charge of it.
For ya'll who don't know me, I am a huge Zelda fan on that board. She practically owns Manfred.
